Current state of the art overview

Program Development in the 21st Century: An Evidence-Based Approach to Design, Implementation, and EvaluationI now use this as my course textbook for implementation research courses. It strikes the right balance between overview and detail in each of the chapters and for each shows future directions for the mostly masters and PHDs I teach this subject to.

Limitations are in a US-centric coverage and less interest in qualitative and case study, as well as in ignoring evidence based quality improvement collaborative approaches (eg the ground-breaking work of the VA research centres in LA).

Unlike many textbooks this shows the latest knowledge and thinking - I read it after the 2012 NIH dissemination and implementation conference and all the issues and items addressed there were reflected in this book.

Implementation research has the potential to be a disruptive research approach which establishes effective implementation of proven and promising interventions as creating more value for healthcare than spending resources on the development of new interventions. This and the Palinkas book on the subject set the agenda.

But wheres the kindle version! Students in Sweden don't like going back to carrying last century heavy books like this!

I love the cognitive basis for having teachers be more considerate about the instructional choices and my favorite line from the whole book is:

"We need to review words for at least a month after we introduce them. Don't rush yourself or your students."

Awesome! That's going to disrupt some tradition for sure! Kudos on another great book. This one is a home run!

This book is fascinating. For the builder, very helpful, with interesting information about the builders themselves. I've heard Classical guitar builders consider this to be the best work on the subject. Certainly the best I've found. Great book!

If you're serious about building great classical guitars, buy this book FIRST!

Chris here, rookie builder. but not a beginner to guitar building, having build solid electrics for many years now.
I just read this book.
I've planned to make the switch from electric to classical for many months now, and part of the research I've done is to buy every book I can about building classical guitars. So yes, I own all of them. every single one. I have even ordered Jose Romanillos's own construction book, self-published, from Spain. And I even own a copy of the book that he allegedly used to teach himself, way back in the 50's.
Making Master Guitars is the 22nd CG construction title that I bought and have read.
It probably won't be the last book I'll ever buy on the subject, but here's what I have to say about it, in a nutshell:
Buy this book first, if you're thinking about building better classical guitars.
I know it's expensive, but to quite another leading luthier, it's worth every penny.

In my view this would be one of the important texts for an aspiring builder of classical guitars. The forward portion of the book focusses on the most famous builders. With the rough designs presented it becomes simple to compare how each builder "puts it all together." Which of course, is both beguiling and instructive: beguiling due to the diversity and variance in approaches (for example, the solera, a fundamental tool in building, differs in style between Bagonovich, Cumpiano and this Courtnall text; however it is instructional because those techniques chosen seem logical and coherent. A practiced luthier may take the book and build these guitars, a beginner might look more toward a clearer appraoch to one single insturment. Either way, if you love the classical guitar you will want to have and appreciate this text. I think now is the time for someone like Courtnall to include the more admired of today's contemporary guitars as he leaves off with the 1966 Ramirez (50 years have passed). It would be interesting to see how things have/are changing in the guitar makers studio as well -- how newer technologies influence the builder and the quality or tenor of the instrument (e.g., latticed bracing, replacements for Brazilian Rosewood, tuners, todays builders, today's tools -- I just received my LMI catalog -- tell me whether it is worth spending $700.00 on a side bender when a $15.00 pipe and torch accomplishes the same thing -- the answers to these types of questions would be interesting for a novice builder like myself). I highly recommend the book, however, it's the best I have seen on the history of the great guitars.

intriguing concept

This is a very interesting novel that pretends to be an autobiographical depiction of the Spanish dictator. It isn't, of course. However, it makes for interesting reading for anyone who would like to learn more about the history of the Spanish Civil War and the leader of the victorious forces. It is not a flattering depiction of General Franco, but I like it.

This volume includes books 2 and 3 of the best-selling series, Conversations With God. This is an Expanded edition, released in 2008, and may have been created for Barnes & Noble's special shelves. Book 1 was more widely released at the same time by the original publisher. "More Conversations" offers a blue-color presentation for God's part of the dialogue, good stock paper, a nice cover, a special Forward by Neale Donald Walsch and, interestingly, a handfull of short interior Commentaries as he introduces sections, notes some highlights and discusses his thoughts in re-reading the books some years after first publication. See Book One: Conversations with God, An Uncommon Dialogue: Embracing the Love of the Universe (Expanded Anniversary Edition). All three of the original volumes are also collected in The Complete Conversations with God from 2005, with thinner paper and with a new Forward but not the interior commentaries.

Personally, I still go back to the audio. I retain and comprehend the more ethereal notions. God is read by a contained Ed Asner and Ellen Burstyn; Neale Donald Walsch is performed by N.D.W. Audiobook ::: Conversations with God Book 1. See also Audiobook ::: Volume 2 .
